Director Baz Luhrmann crafted a new biography/concert film of Elvis Presley from interviews, home movies and unreleased/alternative footage from previous films Elvis: That's the Way it Is & Elvis on Tour .   A movie so nice, I saw it twice. If you're a longtime viewer of this blog, you may have noticed that I am a fan of Elvis. (See Screencap Recap #45 & #66 .)  Of course, I was excited about the prospect of a new Elvis concert film when I heard about it several months ago. Fast forward to February 21st: It was a cold day in Boston (around 30F or -1C) and I was feeling sorry for myself because a plan I had hoped for had fallen through. I decided I didn't have much to do, so I might as well check out this new Elvis movie. The music was loud and clear, like seeing Elvis in person. Some of the editing choices struck me as strange, but for the most part I really enjoyed it and at times was genuinely moved.  I had mentioned to several relatives that I would be intere...

  J.F. and W.R. Whatever wrestling I missed out on in NYC, I made up for in Boston. I even got to step into the BG East ring. Yes, that's me against Kirk Donahue. Here, I apply the crab to Kayden and Kirk.   In the end, even Jonny isn't safe. Thanks to everyone at BG East for being so hospitable, especially Jonny Firestorm for putting it all together. Even though I've wrestled Jonny a couple times now, I look forward to a rematch down the line. --------------------------------- Even though it was cold and I got stuck during the blizzard last week, I had a really good time in Boston. Obviously, the wrestling was great but the city in itself is very appealing. I hope to return someday. The view from my hotel room. Ipswich, MA At the moment, I am in Houston, TX but only a couple more days, then I'm going to the San Francisco Bay Area. I have a lot of family there, so I imagine that will take a lot of my time but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

  The view from Prudential Tower Fenway Park This shot was unintentional. I was taking a selfie and this guy came up behind me. Boston Common Who's in the ring? No, I didn't do any wrestling at WrestleFest. I was there at Atlas on Thursday and Friday at the kickoff party and briefly at the Sunday Wind Down. I'm not a club guy, so I wasn't really comfortable there, but I tried. I knew there was something bigger in store for me in Boston, so I was saving myself. Until today, the weather has been OK. I've done a lot of walking around the city. I even caught the ferry to Hingham. Hopefully, the weather is a little better on my last 2 days here.   I walked across the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn and then took my time coming back across the Brooklyn Bridge. I picked a cheap "motel" (probably being generous there). The first night, I was so tired it didn't matter. By the second night, I was thinking,"What the FUCK did I get myself into?" Like the saying goes, I've made my bed, now I have to lay in it. There's one more day here for me. Even though it's WrestleFest, I want to do sightseeing as well. I'll try to do both.
