Studs in Sneakers #17: AF1's

White Nike Air Force One's seem to be the shoe of choice for many young guys these days and that's fine with me! HOOK, with his father Taz. Even though these are wrestling boots, the stitching clearly emulates Nike's design. Various social media models Darrell shot by Adam J. Washington.

Screencap Recap #84

T-World vs Red Redemption (UKWH) Hook vs Bear Bronson (AEW) AJ Styles vs Grayson Waller My song of the week month is Two Out of Three Ain't Bad by Meat Loaf.  I am aware of the controversy around his passing but I'd rather not dwell on it and just celebrate the music.

Match of the Day 13: Hook vs Bear Bronson (AEW)

Wrestling prodigy Hook looks to notch up another victory in this match from AEW Rampage. Featuring referee Bryce Remsberg overselling in the background. Hook created a stir in his successful debut match and the fans have rallied behind him.  The wrestlers start off simple, trading arm wringers until Hook sweeps Bronson's leg and applies a half crab. Bear temporarily gets the advantage but plays to the crowd too much, allowing to Hook take him down and apply a hammerlock / armbar combination. Bear escapes to the ropes and then stops Hook with a face rake. Bear executes a risky looking piledriver (think Steve Austin vs Owen Hart) and then gloats to the crowd. Hook rises up like a monster, showing no effects from the piledriver. Hook executes a couple suplexes and then finishes Bear with a choke. I think this was an improvement over Hook's previous match. Even though the match was short, the guys manged to tell a decent story and Hook looked impressive manhandling the bigger man....

Screencap Recap #83

Blake Starr vs Jett Bentley: Rematch Revenge (88W) Hook vs Fuego Del Sol (AEW) Ethan Andrews vs Chase Lundquist: How Low Can You Go? (88W) Considering we're on the cusp of a new year, my song of the week month is 1999 by Prince. In 1999 , Prince sings about partying in the face of imminent apocalypse. Are we in a similar situation now? It seems like that sometimes.  Thanks to all the blog viewers, I wish you all a safe and happy new year.

Match of the Day 12: Hook vs Fuego Del Sol (AEW)

Hook, future superstar? The debut of Hook, son of Taz, has been the talk of the wrestling world over the weekend, so I figured I'd weigh in and see what all the fuss was about. It's clear just from his walk to the ring that Hook has a presence about him. He glares at the crowd and puts on his best mean face. Hook turns his back on his opponent, Fuego Del Sol, as a sign of disrespect. Good thing Fuego isn't a heel, Hook left himself open to a sneak attack. Hook shows he's fundamentally sound, taking Fuego down with a front chancery and then follows up with a judo throw into a dragon sleeper variation. Hook gets in the refs face and leaves himself open to a rollup. Hook quickly takes Fuego down again and applies a submission combo, trapping Fuego's leg and applying a chinlock. If look at Hook's boot, you'll see the stitching is made to look like a Nike Hi-top or perhaps they're customized Nikes. Taz was known as "The Human Suplex Machine" and Hoo...
