An Interview with Robby Douglas: Part 2

In Part 1, I asked Robby about his origin story as a fan of pro wrestling and his love of Indy wrestling. We continue from there. -------------------------------------- 10. I'm just curious, have you tried to become a pro wrestler? Are you content just being a fan? No, not really. I'm super uncoordinated and un-athletic. Plus I'm horrible at multitasking. Which are all things a pro wrestler needs... at least to be good at it. In a hypothetical world, I would have loved to have been a pro wrestler. But... not to get super-religious or anything... I think God gives all of us certain gifts. I was never blessed with the proper genes to do anything sports-related; or at least do them well. As an example: when I break a score of 100 while bowling, I get a sad sense of accomplishment! Haha. 11. You have a social media presence on YouTube, X, Facebook and Instagram. Is it simply to share your love of Indy wrestling or do you have any other goals in mind? I'm going to circle the...

An Interview with Robby Douglas: Part 1

It's an honor and privilege to interview Robby Douglas. Robby runs several social media accounts (YouTube, Instagram, X and a Facebook group) under the name Indie Fan. Robby's an articulate guy with strong opinions, so this will make for an intriguing interview. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. I'm always curious how people get into pro wrestling. Who were your favorites when you first got into wrestling? My parents never really cared for pro wrestling. I first fell in love with wrestling when we would visit one of my grandma's... my mom's mom... twice a month. I'm in my lower 40's. So when we would go over for visits in the late 1980's, she would always have the TV tuned to NWA/WCW Saturday Night on TBS. Now, I will say... even though my parents never really liked wrestling... because I was lucky enough to be growing up in what some call the Golden Age of pro wrestling... we would still usually ca...

Check out my interview at Clinches & Quandaries

Greg Michaels from BG East was my first underground wrestling crush. For more insight, check out my interview. Anonymous Fan, the man behind the Clinches and Quandaries blog, has turned the tables and interviewed me. Anon tested me with some deep questions but I think it turned out well. If you want to see my thoughts on underground and pro wrestling, check it out. https://clinchesandquandaries.blogspot.com/2024/12/an-interview-with-wr.html?m=1&zx=f6ced104d94d1172 Here's the links to my interview with Anonymous Fan, which I broke into 3 parts. An Interview with Cameron: Part 2 (The BG East Era)

After a long break, Cameron has finally responded to my second series of questions. You can find part one of our interview here. We look back at Cameron's run at BG East from beginning to end. I ask Cameron about his opponents and experiences there. I hope you all enjoy it. Picking up from where we left off... Soon after you came of age, you started wrestling at BG East. How did that come about?  Some of the full details are lost to time. The basic story is that a dude I met online (through AOL Instant Messenger) mentioned that I should reach out to NHB Battle & BG East about some wrestling videos. I shot an email to Kid Leopard at BG East. I believe it said something like "we've heard of you and we wanna make you champion of BG East" or something of the affect. haha.  We set a time to come down to Massachusetts to do some matches in January (shortly after my 19th birthday). I was so eager that I showed up the night before to say hello. I'm not sure they knew ...

An Interview with Mikey Aarons: Part 2

Here is the conclusion of my interview with underground wrestling blogger Mikey Aarons . Mikey speaks candidly, particularly about his experiences with custom videos. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Drew Harper vs Cody Blayde from Weekend Wresting. This video was sponsored by Mikey and one of my personal favorites at WW.  What underground wrestling league comes closest to fulfilling your needs as a fan? -I can find something I like about most of them, but probably Weekend Wrestling Have you ever attempted to join an underground wrestling league? Have you ever faced any underground wrestlers privately? -No, but I always thought it would be cool to do. I wrestled around with Gabe Steel and JJ Allen in Chicago a few years back. They were both really fun to hang out with off the mat as well. Gabe Steel vs TrevThor from W4H I understand you've commissioned several custom wrestling videos over the years. What are your best and worst...

An Interview with Mikey Aarons: Part 1

It is an honor and privilege to interview fellow blogger Mikey Aarons. Mikey's been around the underground wrestling community for several years, so it was interesting to get his perspective on the business. I hope you'll enjoy it. ---------------------------------------- Jimmy Dean from Can-Am Wrestling, an early favorite of Mikey Aarons. Firstly, I would like to thank you for all the time and effort you've put into your blog. You've been a source of information on underground wrestling for several years now.  I imagine you have been a wrestling fan for a long time. Who were your favorites when you were becoming a fan? -This is a tough one. I'd have to go back to the early days of BG East and Can-Am. A couple of guys that come to mind right away are Jimmy Dean, Doug Brandon, and Justin Pierce Are you engaged in modern pro wrestling? If so, who are some of your favorites on the current mainstream scene? -Definitely! I'm a huge pro wrestling fan. LA Knight, Jey U...

An Interview with Anonymous Fan: Part 3

This is the final part of my interview with Anonymous Fan, the man behind the Clinches and Quandaries blog. Anon reveals a bit more about himself and his taste in underground wrestling. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nero vs Anton Alvarez (UCW): From Anonymous Fan's unreleased custom video. 11. On your blog, you give little personal information about yourself and refer to yourself as "Anonymous Fan". I'm just curious, why are you so secretive? I wouldn't call myself secretive, but definitely just nervous. I'm still very new to the community (though it's been almost a year now!). It takes me some time to open up and actually interact with people. As I'm sure you've figured out by the length of my answers to your questions, I'm a pretty open book if someone asks me anything. 12. Considering your writing style, I would guess you're outside the US. Is that true? That's tr...
