I think wrestling theme music is a bit underrated. The best wrestling themes are as catchy as anything in the mainstream. That said, there's a lot of generic uninspiring themes too. Here are my favorites.
Steve Austin
When the glass breaks you know someone's going to get a can whoop ass. The Rage Against The Machine influence is clearly evident here.
Demolition
Bret Hart/Hart Foundation
I prefer this heavier version over the slicker version Bret used in the mid-'90s.
Jake "The Snake" Roberts
Classic moody synth theme suited Jake's dark persona. He also had a cool heel variation in 1991-92.
Gangrel
Gangrel had one of the coolest entrances ever, too bad his wrestling didn't live up to the hype.
Harlem Heat / Booker T
The Undertaker
The Undertaker's theme is a classic. I particularly like this 1998 version which incorporated a guitar and orchestra.
Guilty Pleasures: These themes aren't considered "cool" but I find them catchy.
The Mountie
Early 90's cheese at it's best (or worst).
Kamala
There's something strangely hypnotic about this wordless chant.
Honky Tonk Man
He's cool, he's cocky, he's bad. The lyrics might be a little cheesy, but aside from that, this is a very well played Rock n' Roll song.
Disco Inferno
Fun Fact: Disco was actually meant to be Honky Tonk's protege in the WWF in 1997, but WCW made him a better offer so he stayed.
Honorable Mentions: Shawn Michaels, The Ultimate Warrior, NWO Wolfpac, LAX, Kurt Angle. Does "Cult Of Personality" count? It was n't specifically written for CM Punk but I thought that was a cool entrance.
Are there any themes I missed? Feel free to offer some of your favorites. Another wrestling theme will be my song of the week, check out my next recap post to see it.
