My song of the week is 1,2,3,4 (Sumpin' New) by Coolio. I liked this upbeat style of hip hop that was popular in the 90's but has since faded away. Possibly because it's not as cost effective to sample old songs as it used to be.

This song samples the 1981 jazz - funk track Thighs High (Grip Your Hips and Move) by Tom Browne and Wikka Wrap by The Evasions.

Personally, I think Coolio took elements from those songs and made his own even better. The video has a few chuckle worthy moments too. R.I.P. Coolio.
