Halloween (1978) featuring Jamie Lee Curtis

Michael Myers is an escaped serial killer who returns to his old house in his hometown. Laurie Strode drops off the keys to the Myers house since her father is trying to sell it. Michael happens to see Laurie and stalks her for the rest of the movie.

Young and innocent Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode.

Laurie is walking home from school with her friends when Michael sees her again.

Laurie sees Michael but her friend Annie doesn't. Annie checks behind the bushes but he's vanished.

Laurie and Annie (Nancy Loomis)

Later that night, after much stalking, Michael kills Annie. Laurie gets a phone call from her other friend Lynda but Michael strangles her before she has a chance to speak. Lynda and her boyfriend were staying across the street so Laurie goes to see what's wrong. After a little searching, she finds Annie, Lynda and her boyfriend Bob dead.

Laurie is hysterical, but Michael is lurking behind her and stabs her in the shoulder.

Laurie manages to escape and makes it back to the house where she was babysitting. Michael follows her there, but Laurie stabs him and thinks he's dead.

Michael comes back to life so Laurie tries to hide in a closet. Laurie stabs Michael twice and this time she's sure he's dead.

Michael rises from the dead again (like The Undertaker) and tries to strangle Laurie.

Dr. Loomis, the psychiatrist who's been following Michael, happens to hear the commotion from the street and comes to Laurie's rescue, shooting Michael six times.

"That was the bogeyman," says Laurie. "As a matter of fact, that was," responds Loomis. When Loomis went to check on Michael, he disappeared.

I'm not too excited the latest sequel but I'm sure I'll see it eventually. Halloween II was the only sequel I really enjoyed, how can it's explosive ending be topped?

Many critics would consider Halloween to be one of the all time great horror movies, and I would agree. Here's a scene where the tension reaches a fever pitch. The elements of acting, cinematography and music come together perfectly.
