An Interview with T-World - Part 2

In Part 1 of our interview, T-World spoke about how he became a pro and underground wrestling fan and whether he’d be interested in becoming a pro wrestler. We pick up looking at T-World's ascent at the UK Wrestling Hub.

---------

Your first few matches at the UK Wrestling Hub were a bit rough on you. You took some beatdowns from EC Extreme. I imagine those experiences helped you grow as a wrestler.

The rise of the champion is a tale as old as time. It's almost a rite of passage that your first few matches should be beatings. It's like anything you want to succeed at in this world, you have to build trust, skills and experience to earn your place. Let's also face it, people like seeing a pretty boy get beaten up and I fitted that bill perfectly. Learning techniques, showmanship and that each wrestler has different energy, strengths and weaknesses, that's the real skill to learn.

As the months progressed, you bulked up and became the first UKWH Grand Champion. You also avenged an earlier beating to Grizzly Jim Bearly in the tournament final. I imagine that must've felt good.

The bulk continues but yes I went from a light 164lb jobber boy to a nice 200lb champ. The aim is 220lb but try and keep an agile physique where possible. Entering the ring with more power definitely helped facing off again against Jim Bearly. Putting him into hibernation by the end of the match was definitely satisfying.

Shortly after your championship win, Red Redemption entered your life, first as a tag team partner, then as an opponent. In my interview with Red he said, "I feel like T-World's personal karma. He got away with so much for so long, until he met me." How do you respond to that?

Oh Red, Red, Red *shakes head tutting*. I mean what can I say other than lucky. He got to live the dream; work alongside Tim World. I mean what an honour for him. True I tried him out as a tag partner, and oh boy was that a disappointment, but it did seem to unlock some drive in the lad. I'd compare myself to Dr. Frankenstein creating the Monster, although it was closer to creating a Chihuahua rather than a beast. Like any dog though they can give a nasty nip. However if they get out of hand by not recognising the Alpha....well... Fido might have to be put down.

You also had a tough series of matches with AJ Nasty, how do look back on those matches now?

AJ has a ring presence and style similar to that of the insane clown or Eugene (#throwback) great fun to wrestle, mad as a box of frogs persona and a good lad outside the ring. We proved a popular match up for a lot of customs. Two muscled lads against each other, how could they not want that? Think he is taking his focus in a bit of a different direction now and seems to be doing well with it.

I'm sorry if this offends you, but one of my favourite matches of yours is #85 Birthday Bash. Mostly because JC Extreme strips you to just pink trunks and socks. Are you you looking for revenge on JC?

Ah the birthday bash. That was such an out of nowhere idea and an insane match. We also had to be careful as the one cake meant one take. Revenge? Maybe. I mean he pretended to be on his phone, pretended to get calls and texts at the end but we all know no one was there....poor sad lonely loser. But who knows. He has leaned up a lot of late. Faster but as I suspect not as strong. Maybe the champ should pay a visit with a belated birthday gift. I'm sure the surprise will knock him off his feet *wink*.

Earlier this summer, you faced Nero the Beast (aka Bruno, aka Nero Angelo) and regained the UKWH championship. How did it feel winning the belt from Nero?

Maybe he should just call himself AKA. Yes, Nero (the beast). We've had the honour of hosting some overseas wrestlers and they have all been amazing. Nero was no exception. Working his way through all my past opponents, it was like he was a Street Fighter character trying to make his way to the M.Bison of UK Wrestling Hub. Sadly, he just didn't have enough to beat that final level boss. But who knows, he is definitely welcome back to try again.

This is the end of Part 2. We conclude with Part 3. T-World speaks a bit more about the UK Wrestling Hub and answers some general pro and underground wrestling questions.

  1. I absolutely loved this interview. It's very refreshing and insightful to get a deeper look into a wrestler like Tim World and the people he worked with. I love we get a scoop of BTS and playful banter about past opponents. Can't wait to for part 3!
