It's a classic David vs Goliath battle as the big strong boy, Tyler Bate faces the much larger WALTER for NXT UK Championship.
The full match is close to 45 minutes, I pick up at the 40 minute mark. Tyler has taken a beating for most of the match but he refuses to give up. WALTER wears down Tyler with a sleeperhold.
Tyler manages to escape to the apron but WALTER grabs him and delivers clubbing forearms to to the chest.
WALTER locks in another sleeper on the apron but then turns it into a suplex, seemingly dropping Tyler on his head.
The announcers think Tyler is finished when WALTER rolls him into the ring and squashes him with a splash from the top rope.
Tyler manages to kick out of that and a couple other power moves, frustrating WALTER.
Does Tyler have the will to pull off an upset?

45 minutes, phew! Great screencaps!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sean. I would have liked to upload the full match but the file is huge. It's an old school match, driven by selling rather than endless flips and dives. For what it's worth, Dave Meltzer gave it 5.25 stars.
DeleteSelling is what makes great wrestling (or movies or whatever). I recently heard about certain action stars having "their people" on set during filming who make sure the stars don't look too weak, or get beat up too much. Silly action stars, it's the ones who sell, who struggle and DO get their asses kicked, that people like and root for and identify with!
DeleteYes, I agree 100%. I think most old school fans would agree the quality of selling is the biggest problem in todays wrestling.
